I have been following this case from the beginning. It's turning out to be quite an unbelievable story. I for one think she will be caught.
For Elva or anyone who knows this pathetic excuse of a human being. Justice will be served and the wrath of your murderous ways will fall upon you like a thief in the night.
Anyone who knows this sorry excuse for a person should do the right thing if they know where she is, we lost our sweet Rachel that was going to CSI, a wife, a mother, and anything else that she wanted to be...but she was taken away from this world way too soon!!!! Elva you should have died that night, not Rachel. Elva you made the stupid decision to get behind the wheel after you were completely drunk!!

listen to all of you. any person in their right mind wouldnt want this on anyone including the killer. of course you people think she doesnt care and that she has just gone back to her old ways. stop making things up you dont know about her. it is a tragic loss but that doesnt mean another person should die. it doesnt take away the pain, the sorrow which you feel. i know for a fact she does feel regret for the situation that happened. it was unfortunate that she thought her only way out was to run, but most people in her situation would of thought of it at least once. i dont understand how some people can go on and criticize others whom they've never met. i just hope everyone comes to their senses including elva, so that this stupid excuse for "venting" will stop...
We have every right to criticize her! She has done bad things even after the death of Rachel. I would not go as far as to whish she would die, but it would be nice if she showed some morsel of remorse and accountability for this massive hurt she has caused. There is a lot about this case that no one knows about (yet) and it certainly doesn't reflect well on her character (and others she associates with).
Bottom line is Elva’s decision to drink and drive directly caused the death of Rachel. The least that Elva could do would be to take responsibility for what she did and serve her time. Her running is like pouring salt on Rachel’s family and friend’s wounds. Rachel’s Mom and Dad especially deserve some peace after everything they have had to endure; they should not have to deal with this drama on top of everything else. Elva owes it to Rachel to turn herself in and accept her punishment. I can’t believe that any decent human being could just go on with their life ignoring the fact that they have destroyed so many other people’s lives by wiping out the precious innocent life of a young girl.
you have no right to talk about someone you whom you know nothing about. you only hear what others speculate which for all you know could be made up. it was a poor choice she made but its done now. no one in this world would go on mourning their whole life. maybe in silence but on the outside you would want to seem as if you were pulled together again. no one stops to think how it effected her. its her who this is happening too as well and nonsense people write doesnt help her situation...
What's done IS done and Rachel's family will indeed mourn their entire lives by the way, but are you saying that she deserved NO punishment and should not have to do ANYTHING to make up for what she did - just because she feels bad? What example would this send others for God sake?! Again, if she would have simply apologized, took some sort of positive action like speak at high schools (like Rachel's family had been doing) and other things to ensure she did not kill Rachel in vain she could have had a life. Instead she went on with her life (yes I spied in her) and did stupid shit and now she got caught again. I know things she did after she killed Rachel and it’s not very comforting. Now I am on the hunt for her and I will find her. Justice will have an opportunity to take its proper course. You know, It’s sad how a bunch of us are running around chasing after her when we shouldn’t have to. This extra work is only making things worse for her. Because of all of this extra bullshit I will make it my life’s work to ensure justice, trust me.
.....in fact at Rachel's funeral her parents spoke about how the events on February 21st were/are devestating to all involved, and they would never wish this for anybody....including Elva. It seems that you have an extremely narrow-minded view (to the poster two above). Elva is not the victim here (which you want to make her), but her actions were 100 percent preventable.....all of this could have been avoided if she would have actually made a correct and responsible choice. It's not all that difficult really. Drunk driving is one of the most selfish acts....it is an utter disregard for the safety of others, as well as one's self. See, some of us hold human life to be valuable (including Elva's). But, one must come to terms with the consequences of their actions.... they must face reality and accept whatever punishment is given. There must be a change in behaviour......an admission of wrong doing. Rachel's family has used the loss of thier beloved daughter to educate others on the importance of making good choices.....many lives have been touched by hearing of Rachel. But so far from Elva there seems to be no public acknowledgement that these events took place..... no remorse given to Rachel's family, no apparent change in behaviour. What's ironic is that I know for a fact that Rachels friends and family have prayed for Elva and especially her daughter. Nobody wants to destroy Elva, quite the opposite in fact. But she must first face the reality of her own actions.
I knew Rachel a short time. Maybe 5 or 6 months. Yet I will mourn her for the rest of my life. Why? Because she was a beautiful person who shined brightly with love towards everyone. In my short time knowing her she impacted my life(and those in my family) in a positive way. And if it wasn't for another persons poor choice, she could still be a positive force not only in my life.... but in hundreds of others who love and knew her.
If we follow your logic, then the moment after an act occurs there should be no repercussion.....why? Because it's in the past. Well, then Hitler was a great man and Charles Manson was a good old funny guy, and Kim Jong Il loves freedom, and ahmadenajad loves Jews....... and on and on. That would mean that I could rob banks without fear of breaking the law, because once it's over it's over. That is not reality. Remember science class? Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. Although since humans have compassion, in this instance the "reaction" is not equal (Elvas punishment will not equal death, which Rachel recieved as a part of Elva's action....her decision to get behind the wheel while intoxicated).
There is no going back.....time moves forward. Which is exactly why we must strive as valuable creatures (created with purpose) to make good choices and to think before we act. Because in the blink of an eye everything you know could change,
for those who think differently this poor excuse for a human being is deserving to be dead and she does not deserve to get up go to bed eat and anything a human person does to survive she took a stupid decision and drove while drunk so she could have a party time and then kill an innocent girl or you or me she does not deserve to live she should be put out of our misery or live in a cage .for those who have not lost a loved one from a senceless death you cant afford to talk so dont waste you time or ours.
Honestly... you people are acting like Elva deliberately went out that night and looked for Rachel to kill her. Come on... reality check... There are people who drink and drive every night and nothing happens. Unfortunately there are days/nights when innocent bystanders are caught in the midst of a bad situation. I'm not saying that's it's okay to drink and drive. Or to kill someone and go unpunished. I'm simply saying that WE ARE NOT GOD! We cannot judge what we do not know. You people don't know what she's going through or what her family is going through. You don't know all the facts. So stop assuming.
Now, my sympathy goes out to the family. It is not easy to lose a loved one to something like this. We have all lost someone at one point or another. Either to a car accident, Cancer, Aids, a heart attack. And I know everyone deals differently with each death. So then who should we start blaming for these diseases? Society? Other cultures? Because at one point you do ask, "Why him/her? Why did this happen?" Then you start playing the blame game. Death is a part of life...Death is a part of life. Grasp that concept people.
So unless you are God and can strike with a mighty blow from the heavens, you have no right to wish DEATH upon anyone. A true Christian knows better than that. Or for those of you who don't believe in a higher power... let me put it in layman's terms.. Karma is a bitch... What goes around comes around...
Let God and the justice system do what they have to do. Let the family grieve in peace. If all of you say that you knew Rachel to be a kind, gentle, never wished anything bad on anyone type of person, then what would she say about the comments you're posting now. Shame on ALL OF YOU for wishing death on someone.

We do not believe that Elva did this deliberately. It is how she carried on AFTER she killed Rachel. It's seems like several people don't quite get our stance. It's simple. If you make a mistake, you own up to it, try to make up for it. You don't do the same thing over and over and then run from the law. Is it that hard to understand? Are we asking too much here?

It is not that hard to understand. I agree she should come back and face the music. Let me clear something up, this is NOT a repeat offense for her. And Rachel's family are not the only ones suffering. As someone close to the family I know Elva's father is gravely ill, and her mother and child are torn. Please understand both families are in pain and need to be prayed for. I just hope and pray that everything gets resolved quickly and that both families get to start their lives again.
I am stunned that the people that knew Elva are lying here!! If you knew her than you knew she didn't even take care of her son, who in fact didn't even live with her. It appeared her main goal in life was to go out party, drink more than you can imagine, and have threesomes whenever she could. I didn't know Rachel but I do feel for her family and will continue to keep them in my prayers. Elva only cared about herself!! Family was NEVER a priority for her. Unfortunately, I believe she fled to Mexico and probably will not be caught. This angers me so much!! I consider myself a christian but, to be honest I hope she burns in hell! I don't believe she has ANY remorse over this situation, it's not in her to actually care about anyone but herself!
You probably have never even met Elva to be talking about her that way. So you know you just sound like an every day A**. Unless you lived with her or really know the family, you don't know what circumstances she/her family was under. So keep assuming, because you know the saying.
As for the family, hey I am sorry for your loss. But killing or wishing death upon Elva will not bring your daughter back. And it really won't help with the wound healing either. That takes time. Keeping you and her in my prayers.

As far as I know not one of Rachel's direct family members has expressed death for Elva on these blogs. Either way many people are extremely upset that Elva keeps creating more anguish on everyone. including the pending case. Much wasted time and money will be spent finding her and she will be found.
I believe how she reacted to her crime and what she did afterwards speaks for what kind of person she authentically is. To date Elva has chosen zero actions to make up for what she did. Now that she has fled she aims to show people (like her Son) that you can get drunk, kill someone and then “get away with murder.” It's salt on the wound for all of us, which is why these blog postings are reflecting more and more anger.
I do appreciate your point of view and thank you for your sympathies to my family. That does mean something. As far as I know, you are the only person from Elva’s camp to offer this.

uh Daisy is it?? Actually I did know Elva very well. I know that she didn't have to move out of her parents house and leave her son so she could live with a boyfriend!! A boyfriend who didn't want her son living with them! That's great parenting!! Maybe that's where she is...teaching a class on how to be a GREAT parent. By the way, I did know the family and I know how they had her son working all the time on his weekends and after school etc. to do landscaping.
Elva always was drinking, I've seen and heard of her drinking and driving before! This was not the first and it certainly won't be her last.
As for Rachels family, I will continue to keep you in my thoughts and prayers! I can't imagine what you must be going through. There is no worse feeling in the world than to lose a child!

I am very sorry for what Elva did. And I'm sorry that the family is going through this. I wish to remain anonymous, because I am a close member of the family. My prayers, thoughts and sympathy go to you and your family. Not everyone in our family is like Elva. Many of us send our condolences and wish that Elva would own up to what she did. I do agree she is setting a bad example for her son.
Rachel, I am sorry that she took your life away. I am sorry that you could not live old enough to see your family grow. But I know that Our Lord in heaven is taking very good care of you. I know this because from what I've seen you were a good samaritan while you were on earth and God keeps angels close to him at all times.

Before it was known that she had fled, some anonymous person said they knew that she went to Mexico.
I also know that Elva confided in her ex boyfriend. She was scared and didn't know what to do. He told her that she needed to do the right thing and face the consequences of her actions. So i know she confided in people about what to do, where she should go....
If anyone has any information, please give it up. Sympathies help, but only go so far. Justice would work much better.

He was fully investigated. He told her to do the right thing. Despite what everyone here and on other sites think about him-he is a decent person. He did nothing wrong which contributed to Rachel's death. He was responsible enough to not drive home or to ride in the car with her. He tried to convince her not to drive home-but (like usual) she did not listen to him. As far as them always partying and such, most of the partying was done at his home while he was away at work. Several times, I was there and he was not. That was also a big root of many fights they had.
He is a good officer, a good detective and a good friend.
It's hard to believe that Officer Zachary Palumbo (Elva's ex-boyfriend) is a decent guy. From what I have heard he did buy the drinks that night. He drove her car there to meet her. How did she end up with the keys? Hmmm… I honestly don't know all the facts yet, but I would expect an officer of the law who has sworn to “PROTECT and server” would do his damn duty. If he prevented Elva from driving (far beyond drunk) that night, Rachel would be alive today. Maybe I should make a list of all the things he could have done right that night, but I'll shut up now and save my anger and anticipated actions for when ALL the facts come in.
All you people need to quit saying she went to Mexico. If this were true then the dumba** who originally mentioned it should cash in on the reward and they should go pick her up. So if you don't know for sure stop ASSUMING!

in regards to her ex, you make it seem as if he was just buying drinks to get her drunk. The reality is that they were there together, with others, and he paid the tab-just as he would have with dinner, or a movie or anything else. Many people go to bars and buy drinks, the same as Rachel's boyfriend would have bought her dinner or drinks. Also, her boss was paying for many of Elva's drinks, and she was not even of legal drinking age (which was revealed after the fact)
He had her keys, and told her not to drive home. They actually got into a argument because he kept telling her that she was not OK to drive home. But Elva is an adult and you can only tell someone so much-knowing they won't listen. Since the vehicle belonged to her-it was not legal for him to withold personal property from her. (which she made a point to bring up to him)
He even told her that he would not go with her and that he would rather walk than be in a vehicle with her due to her state-hoping it would make her reconsider.
Unfortunately, she is a selfish person who couldn't be swayed.
You can blame Elva for every action before, during and after the night of the accident but to blame the people she was with is just adding unnecessary pain to the situation. If you are going to blame people who were not involved in the accident-you might as well blame the bartender who should have cut her off, or blame her manager who was underaged and drinking with them and buying drinks, or blame Rachel's car manufacturer for delaying her departure that evening...It not only would be preposterous, but unnecessary and hurtful. It doesn't help heal the families pain by causing drama for others.

As I see it, the issue isn’t blame but truth. Rachel’s family wants to know the truth about the events that led to their daughter’s death, as any parent would. The death of a child isn’t something you just sweep under the rug and forget about. Knowing the truth is the only thing that will give them a measure of peace. What complicates their grief is knowing that there were many people out with Elva the night she killed an innocent girl and yet NO ONE has cared enough to come forward to tell the story...

Anyone that has any information should willingly step up and tell what they know. You never know what little bit of information that you give can be helpful.
Doing the right thing is telling what you know. No one should do this for the reward money, they should do it for the inner satisfaction, knowing that they did the right thing.
If this had happened to your daughter/or loved one, wouldn't you hope that people would come forward and do all that they could to help?
My prayers go up for the Elliott family, they will have to live the rest of their life without their daughter. All for the sake of a drink.

If Rachel's parents do not know the details of what happened that evening, then the investigators and DA are keeping them out of the loop. I know for a fact that more than one person that were there on that evening were all fully investigated, and a detailed account of how the evening unfolded was given.
I think it should not be hard to get the reports for these investigations, as well as small details such as the bar tabs, and the in bar surveillance videos that showed EXACTLY what took place.
What Rachel's family is saying is that we are all SHOCKED that the eight or nine people that were at the bar on that fateful night have not willingly come forward and talked to the family about what happened.
Sadly Rachel has been reduced to ashes and noone is willing to come forward on their own accord and tell the family what happened.
I pray that something is stirred in their heart to contact the family with their condolences and give their first hand account of what heppened that night. I believe it will help heal everyone that was involved. Please come forward and contact the family. They really are sweet, loving people that loved their daughter so much and just want to hear what happened. Any little bit of information could be helpful.
I was a close friend of Elva's for many years. I worked for the church she once attended. Elva during this time was a light, funny and kind hearted. She had turned away from so many bad ways, I was proud of her. I lost contact with her for many years and she called me when she killed Rachel. She sounded so remorseful and seemed willing take responsibility for her actions. I chose to not a letter for her to submit to the judge because I am a mom and I believed that she needed the jail time. I spoke with her only that time. We were suppose to get together and she than changed her number. I was there and I can tell you Elva was not the kind of mother she could have been. Elva, if you are reading this blog, I am begging you to do with is right, and turn yourself in. It is never too late to do what is right. I am crying as I write this because, I am devasted that you have fled. You reached out to me once, please contact me and I will be there to help you turn yourself in. To Elva's defenders, if she's such a decent person, then she'll come back and turn herself and take resposiblity for the choices she made that night. She is NOT a victim, Rachel's the victim. Regardless of the person Elva is, she took a life and must pay for it by the laws society sets.
To Rachel's family, have you considered sending your story into America's Most Wanted. If nothing else, they can post your story on their website. AMW bad guys have been caught due to that alone.

To Rachels Family...I am deeply sorry for your HUGE loss that SHOULD have been avoided. Your story has touched me so so strongly. A very dear friend of mine has been arrested twice for DUI and I am angry he was released the second time. I think the three strike law is three strikes too late. I support the Every 15 minutes program, but in my heart I truly feel it only takes 1 d a m n second to turn that key and in that one second how many hearts could keep beating if the key didn't get turned! But why go over the IF's? If your daughter was still alive, we wouldn't have to have these arguments about what Elva should or shouldn't do...she already made that choice. To Elva's "friend" if you can call yourself that, if you were a true friend you would help her and make sure she got some help, and put her in the system...by serving her time, and the system making her go to alcohol treatment programs and sober her up, for god's sake you are enabling her to commit the same d a m n mistake again...I am forced with having to have my friend arrested for his third DUI, he refuses to listen to me, he continues to drink and then drive...I think he is pathetic...
...but I am a true friend to him and can't let him cause anyone or his own family the pain that Elva has INTENTIONALLY put Rachels family and loved ones. I even told him the next time I am witness to his drinking and driving even one block he can be d a m n sure I will be calling 911 immediately. so guess what, I shouldnt have warned him, now he doesnt drink in front of me anymore...but he can run but he can't hide. It was only a matter of time before he started hiding the bottle in the office. So now, I leave work (or so he thinks) then wait for him to go... I go back inside, if I find a bottle then I know he is drinking and driving... I will call, the two times I have gone back, there has not been a bottle so I hope he wasnt drinking. I am so hurt and saddened by his stupidity and that I have to spy on him, I keep saying that I wont have his friendship in my life anymore, but then I feel guilty knowing there is a killer waiting to strike. and this man 6 months ago when he didnt drink at all was the epitomy of a father, friend, business owner, Uncle, brother and on and on....Please pray with me for those who still need help, those that are getting help, us that are suffering in pain, and those that will be suffering. And for those that died, those that lay paralyzed, and even those that walk away...who the hell does the drinker think they are that they have that much power over other peoples lives.
God, give us the strength to follow your guidance and show us the way through these difficult areas in life. If we can but serve you to heal those that need your love we might pray that this world would be a safer and more kind place for us to share with all mankind. If Elva actually was remorseful, truthfully remorseful, wouldn't she be getting help to get over this disease and then be able to be a decent mother. She is not running from her punishment, she is running from herself, except running the wrong way. She desperately needs your help because she is not capable of helping herself right now. Alcoholism is a very very strong disease that forces the alcholic into denial. Reach out to help her, as her actions are stronger than words and she is crying out for help. I hope she doesnt have custody of her child, only so that her child can live and not die in Elva's car...oh is she not that stupid to drive with her own child in the car....nice of her to think of others children in other cars...I ask you, what is the difference? Someone also needs to do something about shutting that bar down (Sporty's) where she was at that night. They will let just about anyone in there and have as many drinks as they want. An underage aquaintance of my sister goes there every week and gets trashed and I've heard she's driven drunk a few times. I've heard teenagers that I work with talk about going there. WTF? they need to shut that place down or they are going to instigate more accidents. Especially if they are reckless teenagers drinking and driving.

Elva, I am saddend to hear of the mess that the enemy has created in all the lives of those involved. What saddens me the most is that you have turned away from the Lord. You took me to my first Harvest Crusade you planted the first seed in my christian walk. PLEASE do the right thing, I am sure you are scared but be more scared of our Lord, his words are probably weighing you down right now,for you once lived by them. how much more free can you be hiding? Your sentence here will be but temporary, you have a chance to still have the eternal freedom just do the right thing. I feel for Rachel's family, but I know they will one day be reunited with her. Elva is one of those people that has the sweetest of sides, and you love being around, but then leaves a path of destruction as you turn around and look at where they have been. You never notice it because you are so busy being enamoured in her presence, you didn't pay attention to the particulars, who was getting hurt by what stupid comment or what was being left undone. If you think I am wrong, look at the way she up and left many things in life when the party is done or when it doesn't go her way or when you don't fit anymore, she's good at leaving quickly and without hesitation or heartbreak. Justice would be well served on an individual such as Elva, her destructive behavior has finally run its course. Somebody knows her EXACT location, and ALL who do, you are just as guilty. Quit being sweet talked, bring her home, and let the family have closure.
I knew Elva, and she was always horrible. I was just looking her up to see if karma had gotten to her yet. Apparently, it has not. She's slept with countless married men, stabbed her "friends" in the back, was an absent mother, and a terrible excuse for a human being. I had the displeasure of working with her for several years, and the misfortune of hanging out with her with mutual friends. TO ALL OF THE PEOPLE THAT DEFEND THIS MORALLY BANKRUPT SHELL OF A HUMAN BEING: ELVA DESERVES NOTHING! She made her choices, and as a result, made so many other suffer as well. Hmm, I don't know if English is your first language, but I could only understand about half of what you say, because your grammar is so poor. I'm not out to stone anyone, I'm simply stating my opinion on someone whom I greatly dislike. Also someone who takes zero responsibility for her actions, someone who has destroyed whole families. You sound like one quality guy. You know, Rachel had every right to be out at any hour. To put ANY blame on her is a disgrace. For the record, her car would not start and she was out later than usual... another sad twist to this story. It disgusts me that we are so off topic here. Bottom line: an innocent girl was murdered by a woman who is trying to escape paying for her crime (let alone try to make any good from what she did, lead by example, etc.). This blog is to help locate Elva. It was not really set up as a space for idiotic and rude comments from people trying to defend what can obviously not be defended. If Elva had any integrity, care or regard for the Elliott's or even her own family she would do the right thing and turn herself in. I live in the area and have heard about Rachel's tragic death. I looked up Elva's charges on the Riverside County Court website and noticed Elva was also charged w/ Driving on a Suspended License for DUI. This leads me further to believe her actions were criminal not an "accident." I know if I killed someone innocent like Rachel by my selfish actions, my mood wouldn't be "gigly" or "happy" months later (or years later for that matter). Sounds like sociopathical behavior to me. As far as Elva's ex-boyfriend "The Officer," I don't know the facts, but if he could have prevented this and didn't he's an idiot and shouldn't wear a badge. I happen to be an Officer at a local agency myself, and will inform the other Officer's in my Department of the circumstances in this case (warrant info. photo, etc.) To Rachel's family, I'm very very sorry this happened to Rachel, and wish you peace.

He did attempt to keep her from driving. He told her she was not OK to drive. He took her keys from her. He refused to leave with her. But as an officer, you should know that you can not physically restrain her there against her will. He was very adamant that she not drive home, but she would not listen. Instead it turned into a huge argument. He called another ride home, but she refused to wait and demanded her keys back.
Her ex is a good guy. He is a very good officer.
Bottom line is that people drive drunk every day. No one is to blame but Elva herself. Yes, she had driven drunk previously, and had her license suspended because of it. She didn't learn her lesson, even after the accident.
Please don't try to pass blame on others. It was not her boyfriend's fault, it was not Rachel's fault, it was not the fault of her car trouble, it was no one's fault but Elva's.

I don't know Elva Diaz personally, but I know people who know her. From what I have heard and read, she is not the kind of person who could pull off this disappearing act alone, nor could she perpetually live her life completely dissociated from her family circle. I am convinced that her family aided in her escape, continue to help and support her, and know exactly where she is.
No amount of Hail Mary's or Our Father's will atone for Elva's sins as long as she continues to refuse to take responsibility for what she has done. The Bible says, "you can be sure your sin will catch up to you." Every day she heaps judgment upon herself. Her family and associates who protect her whereabouts are doing her no favors. They only reserve for her a stricter and unavoidable reckoning.
God is a God of mercy, but also of justice. If this were not so, He would not have had to send His own Son to die for us. God is swift and eager to forgive those who turn from their sins, but He will judge those who do not judge themselves.

I know in their hearts, Elva and her family fear God. They can't have His mercy unless they are also willing to submit to His will. I never had heard of this case up before until about 30-45 minutes ago after seeing a posting on Craigslist's Rants and Raves section with a link to findelvadiaz.com. After reading and sifting through this blog I cant help but feel angry and sad at the same time.
Justice will be served, whether it be in this life or the next. May the Lord God continue to watch over and guide Rachel's family. May they all stay strong as they endure their daily pain and strife due to this tragic loss.

The TRUTH is that Elva is wanted on charges of 2nd degree MURDER, not involuntary manslaughter. Your characterization of her crimes simply reflects your personal opinion, which carries no weight and has no relationship to the TRUTH. What matters here on earth is justice according to the LAW. To call it a mistake and an accident takes away from self responsibility. Now call it a Choice to climb in that car drunk, then you accept responsibility. I'll say it again: driving and driving is never an accident. She knew full well the possible ramifications of her actions. She didn't care. Skipping bail was also not an accident. Not taking responsibility for her crime was not an accident. Wake up. Quit defending a girl who happened to be "nice" in school. That's so over now.
Oh, and if it had been me (which it wouldn't, because I don't drink and drive) I would've gladly taken my punishment, and prayed for forgiveness the rest of my life. I would do the right thing. I would repent.
